If you are a mango lover then you NEED to drop everything you are doing right now! San Francisco's Pacific Organic Produce has recalled many cases of their mangoes after its been discovered that they are contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes.
The food borne illness is dangerous as it can cause diarrhea, muscle aches, fever and even WORSE, miscarriages in pregnant women. If you think you have these mangoes at home. Keep reading to find out more details!

According to the company so far they haven't received any reported illnesses from consumption of their mangoes but an FDA sample that returned to them tested positive for Listeria.
The mangos affected were sold in California, Arizona, Texas, New Jersey, and Colorado and shipped out between April 14 and May second. So far the company has taken all precautionary measures and contacted customers to make sure they throw out the recalled mangoes.
If you have Pacific Organic Produce mangoes at home, the PLU stickers on the fruit you should look out for are 94051 and 94959. Listeria outbreaks are taken seriously as it has been the reason in the past that many people have died or fallen sick to tainted fruit.

This is so scary! Now that the weather is getting warmer, many people enjoy eating in season fruits such as mango. At least the company caught the contamination before consumers reported being affected by it. However, I think it's safest for pregnant women to steer clear of mangoes for the time being as the issue gets cleared up. It's better to be safe than sorry in these types of cases especially when it comes to matters of your health.
