We have all fallen into the style trap of trying to be on fleek by wearing tight clothes. Whether it's to look cute or because we haven't realized that our waistline has bid farewell to a certain size, it's almost impossible to avoid outfits that are overly snug. Trends like skinny jeans and Bodycon dresses don't help either. Before you purchase another tight item to add to your stylish closet, make sure you review these health effects tight clothes cause.

It can mess with your digestive system

Squeezing into tight jeans may make you feel good, but it could cause harmful effects on your digestive system. Dr. Jamie Koufman, and author of The Reflux Diet Cookbook and Cure, explains that learning how to avoid overeating will help avoid the tight waistline marks. "It's not a good idea to wear something tight to a dinner, particularly if it's late in the day as well," he says.

It can even disrupt your nervous system

As much as everyone loves skinny jeans these days, they could end up messing with your nervous system if they're a size or two too tight. A common health dilemma is called meralgia paresthetica, or numbness in your legs from poor blood circulation. Many doctors also call this "tight pants syndrome."

It's bad for your heart

Heartburn, that is. When you wear tight clothes, your body doesn't digest food properly. This could cause acid reflex or chronic heartburn. Make sure you're able to sit and move comfortably with your clothes on. This will cause less health issues in the long run.

It's not good for your breasts

Wearing a tight bra that isn't your size can cause unwanted breast tenderness. Bras are meant to give support and not cause pain. According to a medical study, women who wore a bra 24 hours a day had a much higher chance of developing breast cancer than those who wore their bra 12 hours or less.

It can irritate your skin

Your skin suffers from wearing tight clothing too. We all know the indentations you get from a snug bra or pair of jeans. Some medical researchers believe that this can cause fungal skin infections and "long-term mild impairment of the lymphatic function." This can cause unwanted tissue clusters under your skin.

It's not good down there

Thongs should allow your vaginal area to breathe for hygienic purposes. When wearing a tight thong, it allows for bacteria to develop due to constant rubbing between the material and your skin. Tight undies should be replaced with comfy 100 percent cotton underwear.

It can be bad for your bladder

Bladder pain and a constant need to use the bathroom could also be caused by pesky tight clothes. A survey in Australia found that 13 percent of women who admitted to wearing skinny jeans also complained about bladder problems.
