Did Penelope Cruz just chop all her hair off?! The 40-year-old actress was recently snapped rocking a super short, pixie cut instead of the signature long, wavy locks that we've all grown used to seeing over the last several years. And while Cruz could make any kind of style look gorgeous (seriously…I've never seen her not look stunning), I have to admit I almost did not recognize her in this photo. She looks SO different!

As can be seen in the picture, Cruz is wearing jeans, a red tee underneath a long, flannel shirt, and the extremely short haircut. Talk about a huge change! Maybe it's because she's typically not all that adventurous with her hair, but I almost couldn't believe it was her when I first saw this picture.
So is this new 'do permanent? Don't worry! Apparently, the actress was only wearing a wig for her role in an upcoming new movie, Ma Ma. She was later spotted walking around the same set with her regular, longer hair still in place.
Like I said, Cruz can make pretty much anything look good and hair can always grow back. I was more surprised thinking that she'd go for such a trendy look. Her style is typically more classic, so it definitely would've been an uncharacteristic move. Whatever the case, I'm glad she decided to stick to a wig and not go with an actual haircut. Why change an already great thing, right?
