Alex Rodriguez was recently interviewed on an episode of the Chicks in the Office podcast in honor of the second season of his own podcast, The Corp, which he cohosts with Dan "Big Cat" Katz. During the interview, A-Rod talked about how his daughters, 14-year-old Natasha and 11-year-old Ella, won't let him follow them on social media. But a dad's gotta keep tabs on his kids, so Alex follows them from a burner account.

Oh, and not only do they not let him follow them, they're also really controlling about what he shares on social media, because you know how teens and tweens are when it comes to being embarrassed by their parents. It's all actually really cute and just goes to show that celebrity parents go through the same things that we non-celeb parents go through in this world of social media connectivity.

A dad's gotta do what a dad's gotta do.
"My daughters don't let me follow them on social media,” he said on the podcast. When asked if he used a burner account to follow them anyway, he said, "Oh yeah, I have a burner account." Of course, he does! What parent wouldn't find a way to follow their kids online just to make sure they are being safe?
They have strong opinions about what Alex posts.
"Oh my gosh, they are like the COO and the CEO of my social media craziness or whatever I do,” he said on the podcast. “They're so good. You know, every time I post something–usually like five out of 10–both of them would DM me and say, 'Dad, are you serious?' 'Dad, you know I'm going into high school next year?' 'Dad, this is how bullying starts.' And I'm like, ‘OK, I'll erase it.’"
A-Rod is under contract with his daughters.
"I have contracts with both of them that if I post something, now they have to approve everything,” Alex said. “I'm like, ‘OK, I got it, I'm sorry.’"
Nothing wrong with that. That seems respectful and reasonable on both sides.

We're cracking up at the part where A-Rod talks about how his daughters don't want him to drop them off at school anymore and would rather walk the last two blocks. Even if you're famous, your kids still get embarrassed by you.
One thing we would like to mention to Alex and you.
It's funny and cute that Alex follows his daughters on social media with a burner account, and we are very in favor of keeping an eye on what your kids do online. Another thing that we are also really in favor of is not letting your kids be on social media before they should be according to the terms of service of each platform.
Each social media platform has an age requirement in its terms of service. For Instagram, the age is 13. If your child is not 13 years old, they're not even supposed to have an account on Instagram, so maybe don't let them get on the platform until they are actually 13. Just sayin'.
In Alex's case, this means that Natasha is old enough to be on Instagram, but Ella still has a couple of years to go. We know that kids are eager to be on social media, but why rush it? They already grow up so fast.
