Kim Kardashian and her eldest daughter North West share a TikTok account where they often post videos of themselves dancing, lip syncing, or on trips. On October 18, the mother-daughter duo went live on their shared account and North West shared that she has dyslexia. Kim’s reaction gives the impression that she had no clue that North was going to share something so personal.

Now, Kim may be about as public as a public person can be, but that doesn’t mean she’s OK with her kids’ lives being as public as her own. When it comes to the four children she shares with her ex-husband Kanye West—North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm—she’s careful not to share too much of their lives or what they are going through with the public. Check out how she reacted to North oversharing.
Mom and daughter sit side-by-side while North is live on video.
They are watching something that’s playing off screen, which North comments on as she tries to do something on her phone before handing it over to Kim. That’s when North looks at the camera and says “Guys, I have dyslexia.”
It’s kind of awesome that North shares her dyslexia diagnosis with a smile on her face.
To me that says that she’s not ashamed about it, which is great because dyslexia is certainly not something to be ashamed about. Her candor and comfort are great and might inspire others with dyslexia to also not be burdened by any unnecessary shame.
Then she asks, 'Do you even know what that is?'
So, what is dyslexia? According to the Mayo Clinic:
“Dyslexia is a learning disorder that involves difficulty reading due to problems identifying speech sounds and learning how they relate to letters and words (decoding). Also called a reading disability, dyslexia is a result of individual differences in areas of the brain that process language.”
Kim was seemingly unaware that North was going to spill that bit of tea.
“Northie, you are sure spilling the tea on here, OK,” Kim calmly says to North, maybe as a warning. Maybe just as an observation. Kim certainly doesn’t seem upset or anything.
Then North changes the subject with a question to the audience.
North takes a beat after her mother’s “spill the tea” comment and then asks, “Well, should I drop an album?” Could this mean that North has been working on an album behind the scenes or is she just being a kid and asking a random question?
Kim jokingly threatens to end the live.
“North, I’m going to drop this live right now, because you just are really saying way too much,” Kim says. “I love you but I purposefully don’t talk about stuff that you’re going through.”
Kim may be joking, but she’s also serious. She is always careful not to share too much about her kids, which is part of why North is only allowed to be on social media on their shared account for now.
