In 2022, Khloé Kardashian had a serious “skin cancer scare.” Basically, she noticed a bump on her face that she thought “was something as minor as a zit.” But when it was still there after seven months, she decided to get it biopsied and it was a tumor. She had the tumor successfully removed and now she’s opening up about “the huge indentation” it left on the side of her face and what she’s doing to make the dent less noticeable.
More from MamásLatinas: Khloé Kardashian's beauty transformation over the years
As you’ll see from the pictures she shared via Instagram Stories, the removal of the tumor on her face left a noticeable indent on her cheek. “I am definitely not complaining because I would rather have an indention than melanoma any day,” Khloé shared. Still, since she is who she is and has the means to do something to make the indent less noticeable, she’s going to have to spend the rest of her life getting fillers. Take a look at the pictures she shared and what she has to say.

Getting fillers on her cheek will be a way to reduce the indentation.
Khloé shared a picture of herself and a group of women she referred to as "My Armenian Tribe," and went on to explain that the indentation left by her tumor removal "will always be something we have to fill due to the mass."
She thanked the doctor who removed her tumor.
"Not only did he remove the tumor and made sure that I am completely cancer free but he did such a [expletive] stellar job on making my scar as small and beautiful as possible," she wrote. The thing is that even if the scar she was left with is small, removing a part of her cheek means that the shape of her cheek was affected.
It all started with a 'small spec."
That "small spec" that Khloé originally thought was a zit or something along those lines ended up being a huge threat to her health. Thank goodness that she didn't ignore it and got it checked out because melanoma is no joke and can lead to death.
Then she got graphic.
She shared photos of the stitches she got after her tumor removal. Before sharing them, she made sure to warn fans so they could opt out. Consider this your warning as well.
That's a lot of stitches.
Over 10 stiches and around 4 centimeters long. Imagine how scary that must have been for Khloé? And the worry of whether all the tumor was removed and then the worry of what her face would look like afterwards. That's a lot!
The doctor did everything he could to avoid 'keloiding.'
A keloid is a thick, raised scar. Apparently, to avoid keloiding for Khloé, it was very important to keep everything as "flat as possible" so that the scar and incision would not get pulled and stretched while healing.
Once everything healed, there was a 'huge indentation.'
The scarring left behind by the tumor removal seems negligible, but the indent is quite noticeable. The Good American founder shared a mirror selfie with an arrow pointing to the area where she lost quite a bit of mass.
She got the OK from her surgeon before getting filler.
Before anyone gets on her case about prioritizing vanity before health, she waited nine months after her surgery to get filler and she did it with the approval of her cancer doctor.
Her journey has not been an easy one.
Khloé has been clear that the major reason why she has shared her journey is because she wants to remind others to regularly get skin cancer checks. If caught early, melanoma can be treated effectively, but once it has spread it becomes more difficult to treat and can even be deadly.
She's happy her face is 'coming back together.'
She shared before and after pics after just one round of filler injections and the difference is noticeable. "I'm just so happy that my face is slowly coming back together," the mother of two wrote.
Listen to her!
She knows what she's talking about. We all need to get our skin checked regularly. No one is immune to developing skin cancer, regardless of skin color. Do don't sleep on this. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
It's great that she continues to share her story.
Because of her candor, she has inspired many to go and get their skin checked. I also love that she wrote: "Don't ever feel embarrassed or like you're making a big deal about nothing." She's right, instead we should feel proud for being proactive about our health.
She first talked about her skin cancer scare because of rumors.
In 2022, after her surgery, fans noticed that she had a bandage on her face for weeks. Rumors spread about the why of the bandage and Khloé decided to share the truth.
Even then, she knew she might be left with a scar and indention.
Back then, she shared that once she was allowed to remove her bandages, "you'll probably see a scar (and an indention in my cheek from the tumor being removed)." She also joked about making the bandages look "fabulous."
Her surgery was covered on 'The Kardashians.'
Khloé's cancer scare and tumor removal were covered on the family's reality show, The Kardashians. Khloé was a champ throughout the whole ordeal. She made the best out of a bad situation and even used it to help others and spread awareness about skin cancer. This wasn't even the first time that Khloé has gone through this, she had melanoma removed from her back when she was 19.
