Wash With a Mild Cleanser Twice a Day

After pregnancy, your skin has likely become very oily. Getting back to a solid cleansing ritual is vital–that's why you need a mild cleanser (to not irritate your newly sensitive skin) in the morning and night.

Use a Water-Based Moisturizer

Because of the newfound oiliness of your skin, you might want to shy away from your usual moisturizer. Even if you had combination skin in the past, opt for a lighter, water-based moisturizer after giving birth in order to not irritate the oils further.

Drink 8 Glasses of Water a Day

Although your skin may be extra oily during and after pregnancy, it can also dry out quite easily. Drinking plenty of fluids is important to regain and keep your skin's elasticity throughout the essential post-pregnancy months. Glasses up!

Eat Lots of Dark, Leafy Greens

Other than plenty of water, your skin will also need the best nutrients to recover. Start by including plenty of dark, leafy greens (such as kale, spinach, broccoli and arugula) into your diet.

Be SUPER Vigilant About Sunscreen

Skin discolorations and other dark spots can appear on your skin during pregnancy, and even after. That's why it is especially vital to take care of your skin with the best sunscreen you can find. Apply it daily in the morning, lunch and in the early afternoon.

Get as Much Sleep as You Can

We know it can be hard to get adequate sleep with your little one around, but you'll want to get as MUCH sleep as humanly possible. There's nothing that will restore your skin better than that!

Try the Tea Bag Trick

When you can't quite get enough sleep and the dark circles under your eyes are worse than ever, try the tea bag trick: cold, used tea bags for 10 minutes over your closed eyelids will help to decrease puffing in the mornings.

Indulge in a Facial... At Least Once

Do like Naya Rivera did, and go for a facial! It may not solve all of your skin problems (hopefully the rest of our tips helped!), but it will be a good start–and give you some much-needed alone time.
