My abuela, may she rest in peace, used to sleep with a frying pan and salt next to her when she was nervous, so she could blind an intruder with the salt then hit them over the head with the frying pan. Massage
You could go to an expensive spa and have them give you a salt rubdown or you could do one at home right after you take a shower. It feels good and gets that circulation going.
Bath
Most people use Epsom salts for soaking in the bath, but did you know you can use regular salt as well? Yup, one cup of salt in your bath water can help ease your tired muscles.
Exfoliate
A little exfoliation can be great for the skin. Mix some salt with a good amount of olive oil and scrub a dub dub some dead skin away.
Brush your teeth
Huh, I had no idea you could use salt to brush your teeth. Mix one part FINE (not the coarse stuff) salt with two parts baking soda, dip your brush in it and brush them teeth.
Mouthwash
Rinsing your mouth with saltwater is a great, economical and earth-friendly alternative to store bought mouthwashes. The salt kills bacteria and helps keep your breath fresh without that chemically smell some mouthwashes have.
Gargle
If I feel a tickle in my throat my abuela trained me to gargle with salt water to ward off illness. I swear it works and it's easy. Just mix some salt in a glass of warm water, gargle and spit.
Throat pain
If it's too late to ward off the illness by gargling salt water when you first notice a little something, then a salt water gargle will still help ease the pain of a sore throat. Do it or I'll send an abuela over there to nag you to do it.
Bee sting
May you never be stung by a bee, but if you are, wet the area and pack it with salt to help reduce swelling and pain.
Mosquito bite
A saltwater soak can help alleviate the itch from a mosquito bite and if that is not possible mix together some salt and olive oil and apply it on the bitten area.
Poison Ivy
I guess an itch is an itch is an itch because a salt water soak or salt mixed with olive oil and applied to the area also help with the itch that comes from poison ivy.
