Here are five ways you can use lemons in your beauty routine:

1. Lighten age spots. Not that you have any because I think you look gorgeous, but you can use lemon to lighten age spots or freckles. Put some lemon juice on the area of skin you want to lighten, leave it on for 15 minutes then rinse off.

2. Lighten your hair. Everyone used to do this when I was growing up to get highlights in their hair. You mix 1/4 cup of lemon juice with 3/4 cups water, rinse your hair with it or just put it on the spots you want lightened, then sit in the sun until your hair dries. Do this once a day for a week for best results.

3. Whiten your nails. Don't you hate it when your nails get a yellowish tint to them? Sometimes it happens from the nail polishes you use. You can give yourself an at-home nail whitening treatment by soaking your nails for five minutes in a mixture of the juice from 1/2 a lemon and warm water. When you are finished soaking, push back your cuticles and rub some lemon peel on your nails.

4. Treat dandruff. If you are having dandruff issues, lemon can help reduce the flakiness on your scalp. Massage two tablespoons of lemon juice into your scalp, rinse with plain water, then finish off with a rinse of a teaspoon of lemon juice with water. Do this once a day until your dandruff goes away.

5. Smooth your elbows. Are your elbows resembling a dehydrated lizard? Make a paste out of baking soda and lemon juice and scrub your elbows with it. It's exfoliating. Make sure to moisturize your elbows afterward.
