Save or splurge: The best product to banish under eye circles

Those who know me know that I'm not exactly beauty-obsessed. Nevertheless, I DO worry about my skin. I want it to always look smooth, but the one thing that stands in the way many times is these pesky under eye cirles. I have always had to deal with dark circles under my eyes.

That's why I took our beauty and fashion writer, Johanna Ferreira's recommendation to try two products: Olay Total Effects Line and Dark Circle Minimizing Brush ($22) and Clinique Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector ($40).

How did they do? Read on below!

I used both products for about two weeks, and the winner for me was Clinique Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector; I feel like it did the job it promised a bit better than the Olay product, which is a great concealer–it's very makeup-esque–but it didn't really change my skin's dark tone, something that the Clinique product did accomplish.

Apparently, Clinique had been studying women's skin for more than 15 years until they finally came up with the formula for this corrector which promises to improve the appearance of dark circles under the eyes by 30 percent in 12 weeks, according to a press release. I have to be honest here: I can't really talk about percentages in my case, but I DID notice some improvement. If you try either product, let me know how much of difference they do for you!

For now, I'd like to share a trick I use that gives me instant results when my eyes are tired and my under eye circles are darker that usual: I dip a couple of cotton balls in cold chamomile tea, and leave them on my eyes for a few minutes. Done! Try it and let us know how you do!
