Jennifer Lopez went all out for Max & Emme’s birthday party, but was it too much?

Megastar Jennifer Lopez's twins, Max and Emme, turned 10 last week, and their uber-wealthy mami went all out for their Las Vegas birthday party at Sugar Factory.

Of course, the over-criticized star is being shamed by some for spending an exorbitant amount of money on a kids' birthday party, but to be honest I just don't understand the criticism. According to sources, the tab for the party was about $7,500 and she tipped the staff $5,500.

It's all relative.

Yes, the party was extravagant and expensive. But the reality is, "expensive" is a relative term. J.Lo's net worth is nearly a half a billion dollars, that means that the thousands she spent on her twins' 10th birthday is like the few hundred most families spend on a child's birthday party.

Let's compare apples to apples.

I'm not going to compare Jennifer Lopez to the average mom. That literally makes no sense. She's as far from average as you can possibly get. Let's instead compare her to Beyonce. Beyonce spent hundreds of thousands on her daughter Blue Ivy's fourth birthday party. We're talking six figures on one child's party. You know why celebrities do this? Because they can. They earned the money and they can spend it on whatever they want.

Consider this, though.

Jennifer spent almost as much on the tip for the staff as she did for the entire party. That means that she spoiled perfect strangers almost as much as she did her twins. And it's not news that J.Lo regularly donates huge sums of money to various charitable causes. It's not like she's the type of person to spend a ridiculous amount of money on her kids and completely ignore those in need. Then, I might have a reason to side-eye her.

And I mean, 10 is BIG.

J.Lo was a late-in-life mom and those babies she waited so long for just turned 10. 10 is huge! It should be celebrated accordingly. Lots of people have kids' parties at Sugar Factory and buy their kids massive ice cream sundaes and fruity, fizzy drinks and 10-pound gummy bears. We just don't hear about it because they are not famous. Jennifer made this party all about the kids, and from the pics it looks totally appropriate and fitting for the occasion. I say good on her for taking time away from her insane schedule and making this so special for the twins.
