Warm lemon water promotes smooth bowel functions and it flushes out harmful toxins from the body. It balances our body's pH levels and the pectin fiber in lemon suppresses hunger cravings.  Starting off with a lemon and warm water concoction is a great way to set the scene for a healthy day.

2. Eliminate dairy for a day

The main protein found in dairy products is Casein, which is a digestive system irritant, and to accelerate the process of weight loss it is best to stay away from any food elements that might inhibit the smooth functioning of your stomach. Furthermore, dairy products are also acid building foods which can cause inflammation throughout our body.

3. Drink lots of water

This is especially true if you are going to be eating high sodium foods because this can cause puffiness. Drinking water throughout the day will flush out toxins and keep you full, suppressing the urge to consume high caloric drinks like coffee. Also, drink a glass of water before every meal to reduce the calorie consumption and aid digestion.

4. Snack on papaya and pineapples

The fiber content of these fruits binds with fatty foods which then softens the feces which in turn increases metabolism. Enzymes papain and bromelain, present in papaya and pineapple respectively, are proteolytic enzymes which means that they breakdown proteins and making the whole process of digestion smoother.

5. Stop chewing gum and drinking soda

One of the main reasons for bloating is swallowed air in the digestive system. Chewing gum or drinking carbonated beverages can swell up your stomach. Sugar free drinks or gums aren't any better either. Ingredients like sorbitol and xylitol get fermented in the stomach, which leads to bloating.

6. Eat small portions

Eat to curb your hunger not to feel full. Over stuffing yourself will cause bloating and give that distended appearance to your stomach. Not just that, it can also cause indigestion and just overall discomfort. Stay away from overindulging by mindfully portioning your meal.

7. Eat a superfood salad

Indulge in a nutritious salad that includes quinoa, kale and spinach. This will give you the necessary fiber, potassium and other vitamins and minerals while making you feel light and less bloated.

8. Skip the alcohol

Alcohol, even a glass of wine, will not only fill you up with empty calories but it will also make you feel sluggish and hungry. It will make your face look puffy, skin look dull and stomach look bloated.

9. Go cold turkey on desserts

That means no sugary desserts, or the ones with artificial sweeteners, because the fat and sugar in them will bloat you. Instead eat fresh fruits to satisfy your sweet tooth. They are not only delicious but are also high in fiber and water content.

10. Eat slowly

When eating fast, we tend to swallow air and not chew the food properly. The chunks of food ends up sitting in the stomach, which causes poor digestion. Take your time and chew down the food properly so that it is easier for the stomach to break it down. Remember, digestion begins in mouth. Want a flatter tummy? Then, take it easy when eating.
