Long Breath Diet promises weight loss in 5 minutes a day, but seems too good to be true

It seems that we have just about every diet in the world, except for one that includes breathing. Oh wait, now there is ONE and it's called the Long Breath Diet. Yes, now you can breathe yourself skinny by following the tips of former Japanese actor Miki Ryosuke, who claims he lost 30 pounds just by breathing.

The 55-year-old claims that the Long Breath Diet can be done in a matter of two to five minutes a day by following his breathing techniques. As far-fetched as it may sound, Ryosuke says he accredits it to his weight loss and the five inches he lost off his waist in seven weeks. Phew, let me catch my breath first!

The U.K. Daily Mail reports the Ryosuke created this diet after using breathing techniques to relieve his back aches and found he lost weight. There are two ways he says it works. One of  which includes standing on one foot in front of the body while tensing up your butt and placing most the weight on the back foot. Then you inhale for three seconds and hold your stomach and breathe in for seven seconds more.

The second move has you standing upright, tightening your butt, holding in your stomach while placing one hand on it. The other hand is placed on the lower back by breathing in for three seconds and exhaling for seven. So how can breathing this way help the body lose weight?

Apparently these techniques help increase muscle strength, increases oxygen to the blood, and increases metabolism. Jill Johnson, creator of breathing weight loss program Oxycise, explains to Oddity Central that once oxygen reaches the fat molecules, it dissolves them into carbon dioxide and water. In other words, the more oxygen that reaches our blood, the more fat we will burn. However, health professionals disagree with this method and still suggest getting a medium to high intensity workout in daily.

This is probably the most absurd thing I've ever heard! If this were true, wouldn't that mean ALL of us would be thin? I mean last I knew, breathing wasn't an option; it's a necessity to exist. Practicing breathing exercises isn't a bad idea because it can be calming, but you can't expect it to give you ultimate weight loss. It's best to stick to an old-fashioned healthy diet and regular exercise to achieve weight loss goals. Sorry ladies, it doesn't seem like breathing yourself slim is a bright option.
