Dovonta Andrews is only 11-years-old, but he already has the heart of a giant. The Detroit boy was sitting on a neighbor's porch when a fight over money broke out and he heard gunshots. Immediately, he realized his 5-year-old friend's life was in danger, so he pushed him out of the way even though that meant he ended up being the one getting shot.

Dovonta says the bullet hit his shoulder and exited out his back. Luckily, he's back home recuperating, but is fully aware that if he hadn't pushed his little friend out the way, he'd probably be dead since the bullet would've hit him in the head.
I can't even fathom a story like this one. I can't believe that an 11-year-old boy would have to go through something like this at such a young age. I mean, to most of us, this type of story is completely foreign, but it's so sad that the same is not true for so many little kids who grow up surrounded by violence.
The 5-year-old boy who could've died and his parents should be extremely grateful to Dovonta for saving his life. I've always thought that people talk about doing the unthinkable when put in a situation like this one, but I think most people would have a hard time making such a selfless decision as the one Dovonta made Tuesday evening.
