I honestly don't know if I could do what Linda Sirois, a woman from Maine, has done for her daughter. You see, when Sirois found out her 25-year-old daughter, Angel Hebert, couldn't get pregnant because of a heart condition, she quickly agreed to be her surrogate. Sirois, a mother of four adult children, got pregnant when her daughter's egg (fertilized by her son-in-law's sperm) was implanted. Two weeks ago, the grandmother essentially gave birth to her own grandson Madden after carrying him to term.
The baby boy weighed 7 lbs 14 oz and was born healthy via C-section despite concerns of several fertility clinics who rejected Sirois because she's 49 years old.

It's undeniable that Sirois has given her daughter–and her husband–the ultimate gift of love. I think what she did is totally admirable and selfless, but they'll explain it to little Madden once he gets older and starts asking questions. I imagine they can tell him what Sirois said to The Portland Press Herald: "I just saw it as I was babysitting for a few months. It was their child all along. It was just a room for rent."
In a way, I guess it's really hard to imagine all this because I had no problems getting pregnant and I'd like to imagine the same will be true for my daughter. Then again, I had my daughter when I was much older than Sirois' daughter, so I guess that even if I wanted to do something similar (in the event that my daughter couldn't get pregnant), I'd be way too old.

I'm now left wondering if my mom would've done something like this had I been the one unable to get pregnant. I'm going to have to ask her. In the meantime, I can only imagine the elation Angel Hebert must have felt when her mother offered to be the surrogate for her baby.
