In the midst of so much disaster and tragedy, many people are turning to anything they can for a little hope. People in Mexico City have found just that in images from the wreckage of the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that recently struck the city.

Many people are claiming to see a face in the rubble in an image of a school that was destroyed in the earthquake–at the very same location where rescuers apparently spent hours upon hours searching for a little girl, who actually never existed.
The Enrique Rebsamen School made international headlines when rescuers claimed that they could see a little girl that was trapped in the debris, and that they had made contact with her.
According to reports, the little girl told the rescuers that her name was Frida Sofia, and she wiggled her fingers for them and told them that there were other survivors of the September 19 earthquake. Massive efforts were made and countless resources utilized to free the little girl.
Later, Mexican Navy officials said she never existed. They claimed that there was a lot of confusion, but that they never received any reports about this little girl.
This revelation shocked Mexico and even the rescuers themselves, who seemed to believe that Frida Sofia was not only there, despite the fact that no one had reported a child with that name missing and that no child by that name was even registered at the school.
The image below is sparking new theories regarding what the rescuers actually saw. Many believe that the face in this photo proves that Frida Sofia was an angel speaking to the rescuers, rather than a living child.

Personally, I don't see the face. However, I understand why people would want to believe the angel theory. In such desparate times any bit of hope can make a difference.
