If you thought Donald Trump wasn't serious about building a border wall between the U.S. and Mexico, think again. On Wednesday he signed an executive order putting the wheels in motion for the building of the wall. There are no plans for how the wall will be financed, but has said in the past Mexico will pay for it. In fact, he even planned on meeting with Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieto this coming Tuesday to discuss it but fortunately President Peña Nieto officially cancelled the scheduled meeting–good for him! But the ugly war over this stupid wall isn't over. Trump isn't backing down.
More from Mamás Latinas: Proof that even Pope Francis thinks Donald Trump is the worst
"This morning we informed the White House that I will not attend the business meeting scheduled for next Tuesday with the @POTUS," Nieto tweeted earlier today. This is probably because Trump tweeted a few hours before that Mexico should cancel their upcoming meeting if they refused to pay for the wall.
"The U.S. has a $60 billion dollar trade deficit with Mexico. It has been a one-sided deal from the beginning of NAFTA with massive numbers," Trump tweeted. "If Mexico is unwilling to pay for the badly needed wall, then it would be better to cancel the upcoming meeting."
Things are looking bad. Earlier this week Trump revealed his plans to ramp up immigration arrests and deportation. The question is: How exactly does he plan on paying for all this? With Mexico refusing to pay for the wall, Congress would have to approve new funding for construction, which, according to the Government Accountability Office, can easily cost $6.5 million per mile to build just a single-layer fence. That's not including the additional $4.2 million that it will cost per mile for roads.
This wall has been an issue of contention between the U.S. and Mexico since the beginning of Trump's presidential campaign. On Wednesday, former Mexican president Vicente Fox aggressively lashed out at Trump over it. "Sean Spicer, I've said this to @realDonaldTrump and now I'll tell you: Mexico is not going to pay for that f**king wall," he tweeted with the hashtag #F**ckingWall (without the censor stars, of course!).
So there you have it. Mexico refuses to pay for this bogus border wall and Trump insists on building it and clamping down on immigration. Let's pray that congress doesn't approve the budget for this or he runs into issues putting into action ALL these motions … or this is going to be four very miserable years.
