As a parent there's never a dull moment, no matter where you are. And because we lead busy lives, with our vehicles being an integral part of the daily routine, it's no surprise that some pretty amazing memories are made while we're going to and fro. The 2016 Buick Envision – with its spacious, comfortable interior and cabin features that ensure a quieter ride – was designed with special family moments like these in mind:
1. That first middle-of-the-night run to the store for diapers and/or formula. You know the one. You, dad, AND the baby take a trip together to the 24-hour supermarket because it's 2AM and nobody is sleeping so you may as well all go on an excursion (don't forget to treat yourself to a candy bar from the check-out line!). It's a rite of passage that you'll never forget, even if you repeat it multiple times that first year.
2.The very first first-day-of-school drop-off. Yes, there is a first day every year, but that first first day – whether it be preschool or kindergarten – is something truly special. The atmosphere in the car will be a mix of excitement and anticipation, with some jitters and a little sadness mixed in (so keep a box of tissues handy in the center console). Both of you will probably remember the pep talk on the way, with important advice like
3. Going to the beach for the first time. The first excursion to sand and surf means amazing memories for the whole family. The trip there may be fraught with excitement (and possibly traffic), so a comfortable journey is crucial if you want to enjoy the day once you arrive. Pack up everything you think you might even remotely need to enjoy the day, even if it means filling up the trunk with essentials to keep in the parking lot just in case (extra towels, sweaters or jackets, spare beach chairs, extra sand toys, bottles of water, etc.). And prepare for the kids to fall asleep in the back seat on the ride home!
4. The first trip to mom or dad's hometown. There's truly no place like home, no matter how long it's been since you lived there. Driving through old neighborhoods and passing familiar landmarks is a wonderful way to share memories and teach your kids about their roots, especially if you're able to connect with family and old friends who are still local.
5. When your teen confides in you for the first time. Car rides with a parent are a wonderful opportunity to talk about just about anything. For many tweens and teens, travel together becomes a special bonding time when they can open up and be totally honest, since your eyes stay on the road no matter how shocking their revelations are!
