You scrub your scalp with your fingernails

Although scrubbing your scalp might feel good, you're actually doing more harm thang good since it can cause scratching and flaking. Instead, use your fingertips to work up a lather.

Your soap doesn't contain any moisturizer

Using a body soap without moisturizing is really damaging to your skin, since it can seriously dry it out. This is especially bad during the winter months, so try to buy bars that advertize "moisturizing" on the label.

Your shower is too hot and too long

It's hard to say no to a steaming, hot shower in the winter… but don't overdo it. Showering for too long and too hot can deplete your skin of the natural oils that are meant to keep it moist.
