My hair was a giant frizz ball as a kid. I wish this Dove "Love Your Curls" campaign existed when I was younger. According to the beauty brand's research, four out of ten girls with curly hair think their hair is beautiful. That number is incredibly low and shifting the beauty paradigm takes work. Dove came together to interview these young girls and completed the video project in a genius way.

One 6-year-old girl in the video named Carina revealed while tugging at her hair, "I try to make it straight by going like this, and it doesn't work." Thinking back to my childhood, I could totally relate to her feelings. I remember my mom always straightening her hair and doing the same to mine.
I don't have super curly hair, but it's wavy and super frizzy. Looking at my hair in its natural state felt like a huge burden. It wasn't until I reached my teen years that I fell in love with my hair texture. I met other friends with wavy and curly hair and they loved my waves. Learning out to style my own hair and what products to use also helped.
The VP of marketing for Unilever Rob Candelino explained:
One of our most profound research findings was that girls with curly hair are seven times more likely to love their curls if those around them do–this proves we can help make an impact by encouraging women to love and embrace their curls, setting a positive example for girls in their lives.
Passing down confidence is the best gift we can give to our younger generation. The end of the video shows women celebrating their natural rizos and teaching the girls to whip their hair and practice self-love. Now that's truly beauty at its purest.
