Woman with serious vitiligo finally gets her old face back

A 24-year-old woman from Los Angeles with a severe skin condition is finally getting her life back. Lisa Johnson developed vitiligo when she was 7 years old, a condition that left her skin covered in white patches. The poor girl has experienced bullying throughout most of her childhood. But a new treatment is about to change her entire life!

"When I was in high school the kids were very mean to me," she told Mail Online. "The abuse, the name-calling and the fighting were all very difficult to deal with. I would just go home and cry–I would always run straight to my sister, she has always had my back and fought my battles for me." The crazy thing about vitiligo is that it's not necessarily dangerous, but it definitely affects quality of life. "It can interfere with a person's physical and mental well-being with devastating effects," Dr. Pearl Grimes said.

Fortunately for Johnson there's still hope and all thanks to a Narrowband UV light therapy, which will help recolor her skin. The computer generated system works by analyzing images of Lisa's skin letting the dermatologist know how much of each color to use in order to cover the white patches and get a perfect match. But because the therapy takes time and a quite a few sessions to take effect, Lisa got a specialist to cover up her patches using makeup in the meantime.

"It just feels absolutely fantastic–to see the smile on my sister's face when she saw me really warms my heart and my soul. It feels like I can be me again," Johnson added.

Words can't even express how happy I am for this girl. To live most of your life looked at by strangers like you're some sort of alien and finally get the opportunity to be you again is amazing. I'm sorry but I can't just credit science, this here is a miracle!
