I admit I have a couple days out of the week to I might overdo it on eating and I end up with food regret. It's the equivalent to a night of drinking and experiencing a hangover the next day when you repeatedly say, "I'm never drinking again." Yeah, that never happens either!
However, besides the stomachache and bloating you get from a food baby, there are some dire consequences. Keep these facts in mind the next time you decide to overdo it during dinner or a big lunch.
Your bump will remain: It's scary to know that your food baby bump may never go down! When you eat more than your stomach can hold (1 to 1.5 liters) that's when you stretch the stomach wall and it can remain distended for hours. The problem with this is that it can't shrink back if you overeat too often.
You can't be too active: Digestion takes time after eating a large meal and although you might consider burning off the calories through exercise, think again. Intense exercise such as running delays digestion and can cause discomfort.
Weight gain: This is an obvious result, but overdoing it during dinner time can lead to you putting on the pounds. Adhere to portion control to avoid being too full and gaining weight.
Your body can't register food that quickly: You could be causing your body a lot of damage if you don't take it easy when eating your meals. It takes 20 to 30 minutes for your body to register if it is full or not, therefore slow down!
It can become an addiction: Overeating can become a compulsion to eat excess calories and can become an eating disorder. This can stem from emotional eating or even bulimia.
