It's always a big deal when it's time to send the kids back to school, but can we all agree that this year it's not a big deal because it's a monumental deal? Some of us have been doing the whole distance learning thing for what feels like eons now and while we love our children very, very much, being their mother and their teacher isn't what most of us had in mind. Bravo and kudos to all the mamas who choose to homeschool because it is not something to be taken lightly. Anyway, because it's been so long since so many kids have actually set foot in a brick-and-mortar school, we are so here for the funny back-to-school memes we've been spotting.

Humor is a great coping mechanism in life and in parenting. Sometimes you just have to laugh at a situation or you will totally lose it. Like when something is so not funny that it's funny. Anyway, it's OK if you are excited about your kids going back to school. It doesn't mean you are a bad or uncaring parent, it just means that enough is enough and you are so ready to miss them for a few hours a day. So in honor of kids going back to school, here are some back-to-school memes that are so dang funny because they are so dang accurate. Enjoy!
They better not bleepin' repeat what they've been hearing.
It's not that we want our kids to curse, it's just that sometimes when under stress, we can't help but use a few choice words ourselves. I like to tell my kids afterward that I'm teaching them language that isn't appropriate in public. Honestly, how else will the learn?
Seriously, why do kids eat so much when they are at home?
Can you imagine if lessons at school had to stop every time a kid wanted a snack? It wouldn't be school, it would be an all-day snack-fest. How is it that kids can survive an entire day of school without the many, many snacks they demand at home?
Finally, a real reason to take up running.
Do you think there will be a spike in running shoe sales now that kids are headed back to school? Not because the kids will need them, but because parents will be sprinting away at top speed once we drop our kids off at school.
Instead of calling it homework, they should call it 'more work for mom.'
Hey, just because kids are going back to school doesn't mean that we need to see a return to homework. Sure, teachers say the kids should be able to do it on their own, but that's never how it goes down.
Tag, you're it!
I do feel a little bit bad for teachers, though. Can you imagine what it's going to be like for them? Kids going back to school after having been stuck at home for so long? These kids are going to be quite a handful.
You mean they can't wear pajamas all day, every day?
Parents everywhere are dreading the cost of back-to-school shopping. It's gonna cost a whole lot of money to dress these kids in something other than pajamas and chanclas. Maybe pajamas could become the new school uniform for all students.
Again, so sorry teachers and THANK YOU!
And just like that, the time has come and teachers are headed back to the classroom. I would suggest you try to get in as much fun and sleep as you can before the first day because it's about to get real real quick.
The truth is time is relative.
While teachers feel the moments before back-to-school just whizzing by, parents feel like it just can't come fast enough. We even consider telling our kids to start walking to school r-e-a-l-l-y, r-e-a-l-l-y, s-l-o-w-l-y even though school hasn't started.
What do you mean school doesn't start on Monday?
It's just cruel not to start school on a Monday! Haven't parents waited long enough? Why? Why torture us until the very end? I'm kidding, but only kind of because why?!
I'm not crying, you're crying.
OK, fine, I am crying, but they are tears of joy because the kids are finally going back to school and I will actually be able to hear myself think and do things without getting interrupted every five seconds.
Remember to plan for traffic.
We've all got to get back into the morning drop-off routine and it's super important that we plan for traffic. If you do drop your kid off late, remember to hide your Starbuck's coffee before giving excuses.
Let's not pretend that we all have little angels.
The truth is that some kids are a handful and the parents of those kids know it. Not everyone is going to have a little angel child. If your child is a challenge, keep that in mind when it's time to show their teachers appreciation and maybe volunteer to help on field trips.
Get ready to bust out some mom jokes.
I love making my kids roll their eyes at bad jokes and they love it, too, even though they pretend to get annoyed. This ruler one is a keeper that I'm saving for either back-to-school supply shopping with them or the first day of school.
This is not a joke! So many of us live in fear.
What's up with kid's homework nowadays? How can I be expected to remember stuff I supposedly learned decades ago and to show my work when I'm using a calculator? Do I just email a video of me using the calculator?
Getting our kids ready for school is a little different nowadays.
As happy as so many of us are that our kids are headed back to school in person, there is no denying that getting them ready for school nowadays is different to say the least. Thank goodness for humor!
We wish you and yours a happy and healthy school year!
