The Social Security Administration has just released it's top baby names list, and I have to say, I'm a bit disappointed. The top 10 for each boys and girls remains mostly unchanged from recent years, with Noah and Emma taking the top spots. Great names no doubt, but honestly I'm a bit tired of seeing them on this annual list. There were however, a few more exciting names that didn't make the top 10, but did make some significant rises.

I actually have a few favorites among these 20 names–Ava, Charlotte, Daniel and Ethan–and I don't think they're going anywhere soon, but I'm a bit more excited to see the growth of a few names that came in lower down on the list. Particularly, because they seem to be inspired by Latino culture. Aranza rose 281 spots (known from the Mexican pop singer) and Montserrat which rose a whopping 582 spots (known from the telenovela "Lo Que La Vida Me Robó"). It got me thinking about some Latino names I'd love to see make the list next year.
