When you have a baby, you marvel at the wonder of them and do things like count their fingers and count their toes and count their teeth. Wait! Actually most of the time you don't count their teeth because they aren't born with any teeth, that's why newborn Alyssa Bailey, who was born with two bottom front teeth, is causing such a sensation. I've never seen anything like it and chances are you haven't either.

Isn't that nuts?! This little cutie was born three days after Christmas in Branson, Missouri and became the talk of the ward. Her mother, Jaklina Bailey, says, "Right when she first arrived everybody was just shocked. Just like, 'She has two front teeth? No kidding? Really?' It was just a big talk about it, you know, in the delivery room."
So how often is a baby born with teeth? Not very often, only about one in every 2,000 to 3,000 babies is born with teeth. Doctors say it's not a bad thing and that the only thing parents have to look out for is if the teeth become loose because then they can turn into a choking hazard.
My friend pointed out that Alyssa's parents missed out on a few weeks of teething hell and she has a point, but they also missed out on seeing their baby's first teeth come in which is kind of a bummer. Although I'm sure this born with teeth story is going to become the kind of story that gets passed down from generation to generation in their family as in, "Did you know that your great, great grandmother Alyssa was born with two front teeth?"
I was watching a news broadcast about this story and one of the anchors said, "I guess you don't breastfeed if you have a baby with teeth" and to that I say, OF COURSE YOU CAN!
