Woman wakes from seizure & discovers she’s given birth!

A woman who suffered from a seizure caused by preeclampsia got the shock of her life when she woke up to learn she'd delivered her baby. Gemma Jamieson was six months pregnant when she went into convulsions while at a car show with her husband. Doctors rushed to save the 23-year-old mom's life and decided to deliver her baby via Caesarean section to save its life as well. Imagine waking up with no recollection that any of this has happened!

When baby Tyler was delivered, he only weighed one pound and had a one in 10 change of survival. He need a heart operation when he was only one month old, received 17 blood transfusions, and underwent five rounds of laser eye surgery because he had a 98 percent chance of being blind. His mom woke up three days after he was delivered and her husband told her the story of her child's birth and health battles.

I can't imagine the mixed emotions she felt. First, there's the joy and gratitude in knowing that you've both survived such a scare and the intense fear and hope on whether your child will come out of this crazy journey healthy. Then, as Jamieson told reporters, there is the devastation that comes with realizing that you never experienced the birth of your first child. Jamieson felt robbed because never even felt her baby kick since she was only 24 weeks pregnant when he was delivered. Most of her family had seen the child by the time she finally met Tyler, seven days after she woke up. I would have wanted to drag all my machines and bed right to where my baby was recuperating and not have wanted to leave his side.

But on the bright side, the family is happy and healthy with their now-17-month-old little boy and I'm sure they're beyond grateful that doctors took that chance to save both his and his mother's life. They call him their little miracle and after learning of all the hurdles this teeny fighter jumped through and survived, it's easy to see why.
