Pregnancy brain is real so leave us alone!

Everything seems to change when you become pregnant. Your hips expand, your feet get bigger, your breasts swell and even your brain changes. It's true, your brain changes! What we have all been referring to as pregancy brain or baby brain is a real thing. It manifests itself as forgetfulness and even a little ditziness in women who before being pregnant were anything but forgetful or ditzy. It can be a little offputting and confusing and make you wonder if being pregnant is making you dumb, but don't worry it has nothing to do with being dumb and in fact scientists have discovered that there is a biological reason for it and it's all about the baby, Baby!

It turns that hormones released during pregnancy fine-tune a woman's intuitive abilities, which in turn help her better understand her baby's needs as soon as the baby is born.

The results of a study led by Dr Victoria Bourne at Royal Holloway, University of London showed that pregnant women use the right side of their brain more. The right side of the brain is associated with emotional skills, whereas the left side has more to do with logic. Babies aren't particularly logical, so it makes sense that new mothers should rely more heavily on their emotional and intuitive skills, no?

Dr. Bourne says, "It seems the extra sensitivity occurs during pregnancy so that a woman is attuned to her baby straight after the birth. It could be said to help develop a mother's intuition so they are very sensitive to the baby's needs."

This is all awesome and YAY NATURE, but I wish Dr. Bourne could tell me when I will get the part of my brain that used to remember things back. It's been over three years since I was last pregnant and I can't remember the last time I was able to remember something.
