1. Family date night: Adults need their date nights, but so do entire families! So pick a day of the week, shut off the TV, and try to a new activity that you can all enjoy, like bowling or (if you want to be outside) miniature golf.
2.Go camping: You don't have to know how to whittle a fire out of stone and sticks to go camping. There are plenty of family-friendly parks where you and your kids can take hikes, make s'mores, and tell campfire stories.
3. Start a garden: Bond with your kids and teach them about a healthy lifestyle by by planting fruits and vegetables in your yard. You can let your kids pick what they want to grow (after doing some research for what would work best, of course) and let them help you water, plant, etc.
4. Hit the courts … or the field: It doesn't matter whether you like soccer, tennis, or any of the other multitude of sports in between. Just pick your favorite or let your kids choose one and head out for a family game!
5. Start a hobby together—one that gets you and your kids' heart rate going, like biking, roller skating or Frisbee.
6. Set up an outdoor obstacle course: You can find an already built public obstacle course to try or you can create your own in your backyard. Have your kids walk a "tightrope" (on a jump rope or garden hose), stand on one foot for a certain count, crawl under a table or bend, stand on a marked spot to do jumping jacks, hula hoop, etc. Whoever finishes first gets a prize!
