Mom gives birth to twins EIGHT days apart!

In an absolutely unbelievable birth story, a Bermuda couple welcomed their twin boys into the world a full eight days apart. I know…say what?! Who even knew that was possible?

The occurrence is apparently professionally known as delayed interval birth and is extremely rare among pregnant women. But amazingly enough, that's not even the craziest part of Edonna Bean's labor experience.

According to reports, Bean's pregnancy was progressing as expected until she hit the second trimester. During the 18th week of her pregnancy, one of the twin's amniotic sac ruptured, causing her to be rushed to the hospital. Emergency medics said it was unlikely that the twin would be able to survive, but Bean refused to give up on her baby–and apparently his unborn brother felt the same way!

In what can only be described as a true miracle, Bean says the second twin was actually able to keep her uterus up enough to allow the first one to survive 8 weeks without amniotic fluid. Eventually, Bean was airlifted to a Canadian hospital that specializes in high-risk pregnancy, where both babies were born prematurely.

The first baby boy, Emyr, was born on November 25 at just 1 pound, 5 ounces. Days later, on December 3, his brother, Esai, was born through a caesarean section, weighing 2 pounds, 7 ounces. Though the twins have to remain in the neonatal IC unit until after their due date, they are reportedly doing well and apparently like to lie facing each other in side-by-side incubators.

Is that an amazing story or what?! I've always known that twins have a special bond with each other, but this proves that it can form even earlier than anyone ever thought. I mean, one twin basically saved his own brother's life before he was even out of the womb! Can you imagine?! And even though they were born eight days apart and don't share a birthday like most twins, these two babies now have a different kind of unbreakable connection that will last them their whole lives!
