Use the whole beach as your playground! To make it extra fun, bring along a water gun to turn it into a game of "Super Soaker Tag."

Make a list of "treasures" (like shells, pebbles, etc.) for the kids to look for while visiting the beach! You can also make it an activity scavenger hunt so every family member or team has to complete certain beach tasks–like build a sandcastle, take a picture with a lifeguard, etc.

Sand mini-golf

Stop by your local drug store and pick up some inexpensive plastic golf clubs and balls in the toy aisle or use replacements, like plastic buckets, water bottles, etc. Then build your own golf course! You can also dig holes and create obstacles to make it more challenging.

Beach Bucket Race

For this game, you’ll need a few large buckets and small buckets, depending on how many kids you have. Put the large buckets in the sand, give the small buckets to your kids, and ask them to race down to the water and bring back water to fill the big buckets. Whoever fills their bucket first or has the most water after a certain alloted amount of time is the winner. You can also set this up as part of a relay with other family members–and it's sure to get even the most energetic of kids sleepy!

Volleyball

Depending on the age of your kids, you can use the normal size nets or set up smaller, makeshift ones of your own! You can use a regular volleyball or a lighter beach ball. You'll be getting in some exercise while having fun.

Frisbee

Everyone can join in on this fun, family game! It's perfect for big groups and you can just toss it around, test your own throwing skill or make up your own points system.
