Dear mom,
Not everyone can say that they have a really good relationship with their mom. I know we may not always see eye-to-eye when it comes to certain things (like religion and politics), but in the end I always know that I can count on you no matter what. You're not just an exceptional mother to my siblings and I, but also my best friend. I'm so grateful to have been blessed with a mom like you and with Mother's Day just a few days away I thought I'd take this time to thank you for all the amazing things you've done for me.

1. For always believing me: Thank you mom for always being my biggest cheerleader! You've believed in me, when I couldn't even believe in myself and have always been there to support every SINGLE one of my dreams, even when they weren't all that practical. It's because of your unconditional love and support that I'm now living my dreams as a professional writer.
2. For your patience: I know I wasn't exactly a piece a cake during my rebellious teenage years. Between my bad temper, rebellion, sassy mouth, and stubbornness, there was no talking sense into me. Believe me, I'll be the first to admit it. But even so, you were still always there for me whenever I needed you the most and that's something that I'll never forget.
3. For you amazing advice: Whenever I'm going through an ugly crisis, you're always the first person I go to for advice. You're the first person I cry to after a tragic breakup and the first person I call whenever I have great news. You've given me truly valuable advice over the years and have taught me lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. You've also taught me amazing values that have shaped the woman I am today.
4. For being so strong: Even though you've been married to Papi for almost 30 years, you've never allowed yourself to lose yourself in a man. In fact, you're one of the strongest, most independent women I know. Without you, our family (and maybe even the extended family) would be a total mess. You have been the wise and strong fort that has kept this entire family together. Even when things are at their worst, you always manage to find a way to pull yourself together and stay optimistic. And lord knows we've gone through our fair share of trials!
5. For being so smart: Seriously Mami, is there anything you can't do? Let's face it–you could probably write a book, start your own business, and reconstruct an entire house in one day if you really put your mind to it. You have no idea how much I respect that about you.
6. For being so loving: Even when I'm not looking for it, there you are ready to grace me with your amazing hugs. I know that when I'm feeling down all I need to do is feel your warmth and I automatically feel better. You're not just a loving mother but a loving individual in general. You've always there to lend a hand to anyone in need and that's what makes you such a special person.
