The Mexican and Native American artist went on the TV show The Doctors to inspire people to fight against cancer–whether you have been diagnosed or not. During a very moving interview, he recalled the time of his diagnosis in 2014.
"I thought about my kids. Am I going to live to see my kids grow up?," says the 41-year-old. "In that instant, I remember telling my wife and we went into fight mode, not flight mode."
He went through surgery and chemotherapy, which he describes as "torture." Taboo admits he made a huge mistake that complicated his situation. He had pain around the area for years, which he ignored.
"That's the most important message I'm trying to present and relay to everybody is that if you have a pain, listen to your body," he said.
Now he is committed to help the war against cancer and has released a single called "The Fight". All the proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
