A tragic wave of events hit the New York City Police Department over the weekend. Two police officers on patrol in Brooklyn were fatally shot by a vengeful career criminal who wanted the cops to pay for the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner. Ismaaiyl Brinsley reported shot Rafael Ramos and Wanjian Liu in the head then ran into a subway station and committed suicide on the platform. Two families and a community now mourn the deaths of the cops who risked their own lives to serve and protect. Now Ramos' son Jaden is speaking out about his emotional loss and his words are truly heartbreaking.

It saddens me that one crazy person was able to do so much harm. Before attacking Ramos and Liu, the murderer went on his social media page and bragged about wanting to "kill some pigs" and "leave pigs in a blanket." These were innocent men who had nothing to do with the Garner and Brown cases. What's scary is that NYPD are now on "high alert" and reviewing other social media pages for reported threats against them.
Candlelight ceremonies have taken place in the neighborhood the police officers were murdered. Hundreds of friends, family and fellow police officers have come out in support.
Ramos' teen son wrote on his Facebook:
Today I had to say bye to my father. He was their [sic] for me everyday of my life, he was the best father I could ask for. It's horrible that someone gets shot dead just for being a police officer. Everyone says they hate cops but they are the people that they call for help. I will always love you and I will never forget you. RIP Dad.
Now this teen boy has to grow up without a dad because some crazy man wanted to commit a senseless act of violence. If anything, his actions have tainted the attention from innocent protestors who want justice. I hope Ramos and Liu's families find peace after all of this and hopefully there aren't more crazies out there willing to strike again.
