Alicia Keys posts nude pic to change the world

Alicia Keys is the latest celeb to have __a nude photo of herself floating around the interweb__s, but it's not for the reason you think!

The "Girl on Fire" singer is not one of the latest victims of the ongoing celebrity nude photo scandal. At least, not as far as I know. No, she released the nude pic herself on Saturday, in an effort to "get people's attention," and "make the world a better place" as part of her new We Are Here social movement.

Alicia, who is wearing nothing but her birthday suit and a peace sign painted on her pregnant belly in the Insta-snap, tells the New York Times she decided to go nude because "It's time to get people's attention," later adding, "People won't be able to ignore this visual." She's not kidding. More than 116,000 people have "liked" her photo on Instagram, and many others are talking about it on Twitter, Facebook, and even in their homes–where it really matters. It looks like her plan is working.

In a video released on Instagram Sunday, Alicia shares her delight in the conversation her photo has started. She says:

"It looks like I got your attention. Good, because that's what We Are Here is all about–the conversation. And the peace sign on the belly is all about wanting a safer world for the children. And who doesn't want that? And if you want to know more, go to WeAreHereMovement.com, because you know I wouldn't be out here naked for nothing'."

That's my Alicia! This is exactly why I love her. Unlike other celebs, who used their celebrity status and sex appeal to sell us Carls Jr. burgers and soda, Keys has chosen to leverage her reputation to do some actual good in the world. She tells the New York Times she was inspired to kickstart the We Are Here movement when a friend of hers asked: "Why are you here?" The question got her thinking about her purpose in life and the kind of legacy she wants to leave behind. Ultimately, she decided she was here–that we all are here–to "manifest an empowered world community built on the true meaning of equality." And so We Are Here Was born.

The movement officially launched yesterday at the Global Good Summit. As part of her campaign, Alicia is asking her fans to support 12 specific groups:  All Out, CAREEqual Justice Initiative, the Future Project, Girl Rising, Keep a Child Alive, Moms Rising,  Oxfam, Partners in Health, the Trevor Project, the Trayvon Martin Foundation, and War Child. For her part, Alicia is donating $1 million of her own money, to be divided among the 12 groups, and she hopes her fans make their own donations. And even if they can't spare a buck, Alicia says she hopes to at least inspire her fans to give a damn about social justice issues that affect us all. "We're in the same head space. We think the same things," she said. "This is bothering us, so how can we take that to the next step and do something about that, as opposed to just being angry?"
