SEE: Woman says her dead abuela reached out to her & sent her a selfie

There are a few inescapable truths in life: taxes, death … and selfies. At least according to Gina Milhai, a Romanian woman who claims to have recieved a selfie from her dead abuela. No, we're not joking. Wait till you see the creepy selfie she says is from her tortured abuela.

When 34-year-old Mihai  turned on her phone, she was shocked to stumble across what appeared to be the distorted face of her deceased grandmother. "She had what looked like a snake around her neck and the whole image looked as if it had been taken through a hole, like it was shot through a tear in the fabric that separates the living from the dead," she told a British newspaper.

dead grandmother sent selfie

At first she didn't know what this ghostly image could mean, so she did what any logical person would do: took it to a fortune teller who promptly told her that her grandmother was trying to tell her that she was being punished on the other side.

Now let's take a minute and assess the severity of this situation. Receiving a selfie from a living person can go either way–sometimes they're welcome but more often than not, they're obnoxious. A selfie from beyond the grave, however? That requires an apparition to not only materialize long enough to be captured in an image, but in this case, to learn how to use technology that she probably never used while she was alive. Now that is impressive.

Mihai may have welcomed this poltergeist into her home by not bringing a food offering to her gravesite, as is Romanian tradition. I know when my grandmother doesn't eat she gets really cranky, so the logic behind this phone haunting is perfectly sound in my book. As frightful as this has been for Mihai, the Romanian church is sitting pretty. As it turns out, this haunting image has inspired locals to start flocking to churches en masse to pray for the family. Coincidence? We think not…
