We've all heard that twins have a special connection, one that no one else can break or even understand. Well, it looks like long-lost twin sisters Ann Hunt and Elizabeth Hamel will finally have a chance to experience that bond for themselves. The pair has just been reunited after a record-breaking 78 years–the longest any pair of twins has ever been separated before finding each other again. Wow!
Apparently, both were born to an unmarried domestic service in England in 1936. Though their mom initially planned to put both twins up for adoption, she ended up keeping Elizabeth, thinking that the curvature of her spine could keep her from being adopted. The two grew up and spent their whole lives apart … until now. You'll never guess what brought them together!

Apparently, Elizabeth actually learned she had a twin when she was 15 but didn't know how to find her. Meanwhile, Ann, who moved to the U.S. with her husband, never even knew she had a sister, let alone a twin, until her youngest daughter started researching their family history and uncovered the truth. Can you imagine?!
After exchanging letters and phone calls, the two met in person for the first time in California last week, where they took part in a study led by prominent twins researcher Dr. Nancy Segal. "Lizzie, Lizzie, how lovely," Ann reportedly said as they hugged, while Elizabeth added, "How lovely to see you in the flesh. I've been praying for you for many years." Aww! That must have been such an incredible moment for them.
I'm so happy that these two were able to find each other. They may have spend decades apart, but it's clear that they already have that special bond, which is simply amazing. I hope they continue to enjoy getting to know each other and make many more memories together!
