__March 21 is World Down Syndrome Da__y. The number 21 is significant because Down syndrome is a genetic disorder that occurs when someone has three copies of chromosome 21, instead of two copies. I want to share an amazing video with you called, Dear Future Mom, that was made in honor of World Down Syndrome Day.
The video was made in response to an email that was sent to CoorDown, the Italian Coordinator of the National Association of People with Down Syndrome. The email was sent on February 9, and reads, "I'm expecting a baby. I've discovered he has Down syndrome. I'm scared: what kind of life will my child have?" The video response features 15 young adults and children from across Europe and is one of the most beautiful, touching and heartwarming things I have ever seen in my life. No exaggeration. I promise you, you will be happy to have seen it and even if you are not the crying type, you might want have a tissue handy.
