Hayden Carlo was already down on his luck when he was pulled over by a Plano police officer recently for an expired registration sticker. The father of two was struggling to make ends meet and decided to be honest with the cop as to why he hadn't renewed his registration. "I said there's no explanation for why I haven't done it, except I don't have the money….it was either feed my kids or get my registration done." When the cop came back to hand him his ticket, Carlo was floored when he realized there was a $100 bill inside!
"I broke down in my car. What else could I do?," Carlo told CBS DFW.
The officer didn't tell anyone what he'd done, but Carlo's grandfather was so touched by his kindness that he decided to write a letter of gratitude to the police department. The cop wishes to remain anonymous, but according to the police department's spokesperson, he felt like "it was the right thing to do" because Carlo obviously needed the money more than he did.

It's unfortunate that police officers get such a bad rap usually because of the few bad apples among them. I'm sure that stories like this one–and that of the cop who bought a pair of boots for whom he thought was a freezing homeless man in New York City recently–abound, but we just don't hear about them.
With the cash the cop gifted him, Carlo was able to renew both his and his wife's registrations. He says that the cop's generosity restored his faith in God. Crazy how one good deed can make such a huge difference in someone's life!
