It's a cruel world on the internet. Body positive activist and feminist Megan Jayne Crabbe recently experienced a ton of criticism on Instagram after posting a picture showing off her new curves. Apparently Crabbe was diagnosed with anorexia when she was 14 and weighed only 62 pounds. She's taken to promoting body positivity online since recovering from her disorder and has been proudly showing off her new curves, and it's such an inspiration!

Crabbe shared a couple of side-by-side photos of her back when she suffered from anorexia and now. Her anorexia had spiraled so out of control that she almost killed herself. She managed to turn things around by adopting a healthy lifestyle, not obsessing over her weight and embracing her naturally curvy body. Crabbe not only looks healthier, but she also looks a lot happier. "This is my happy body," she captioned one of her photos. Of course there were haters who criticized Crabbe's photos, even going as far as calling her fat.

"Wait, so you just decided to ruin your body?" said one. "But you looked so much healthier to me before," wrote another. Crabbe's responses to all of this was the best, though. She totally shut those trolls down.
"I could have stayed the same and spiraled back into the eating disorder that almost killed me when I was 15. I could have kept starving myself and obsessively working out for hours everyday but it never would have led me to self-love. No matter how much weight I lost there was always still something to hate. And sure, people don't NEED to gain weight to find their self love this is just what my body needed to do to match up to my mental freedom." Well said!

Crabbe's entire IG feed is a total inspiration. She not only shares pictures of her own self-love journey but shares other women's journeys as well, along with empowering quotes and illustrations that prove that beauty is not about size. It's about loving yourself fully inside as out–as cliché as that might sound.
If we can learn anything from Crabbe's work, it's that as women we really need to be kinder to ourselves and recognize that our bodies are wonderful exactly the way they are.
