1. They're loaded with choline.- Choline is an essential nutrient that keeps our cell membrane functioning properly, reduces inflammation, prevents heart disease by keeping the level of homocysteine under control, and regulates our neural communication. It also helps with fetal brain development. That's why it is recommended that pregnant women double up on their choline intake. Plus, choline also promotes happiness by stimulating the production of dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine production. Although our body produces some choline we have to rely on outside sources to reach the required levels, and egg yolk is the richest source of choline.

2.They increase our HDL.- Eggs are high in cholesterol, no ifs or buts. In fact, one egg contains 62% more cholesterol than the recommended daily intake. But research has shown that eating eggs regularly actually increases your HDL (the good cholesterol). If you already have high cholesterol, you don't have to give up eggs entirely. Just eat them in moderation. Eggs also have a low amount of saturated fat. If your cholesterol level is normal, you shouldn't avoid eggs, since some health experts consider them the perfect food.

3.Eggs are the perfect protein.- Not only are they high in protein at 6 grams, they also combine the best type of amino acids, which makes it easily absorbed by the body. The protein in eggs help build muscle and satisfy hunger pangs. Eggs also contain all of the essential amino acids, making them a source of complete protein.

4. They're rich in antioxidants.– These two carotenoids together are called xanthophyll, found in the yolk. This reduces our chances of acquiring age-induced macular degeneration and cataracts. The presence of these carotenoids in our macular region (the eye) protects our retina from oxidative damage. The yolk contains many other antioxidants properties, mostly derived from two amino acids: tryptophan and tyrosine. This powerful antioxidant activity may help reduce your risk of heart disease and cancer.

5. Pack vitamins and minerals.- An egg contains a whole bunch of vitamins and minerals including Vitamin A, Folate, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B12, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B6, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Vitamin K, Phosphorous, Selenium, Calcium and Zinc. Plus, it contains healthy fats and protein. Some pastured eggs also are rich in Omega-3s.

6.Help lose weight.- Egg yolk contains an amino acid called tyrosine that promotes mental alertness, staves off depression, and acts as an appetite suppressant.
