Have you ever been so mad at work that you just want to break something? You know just grab the nearest thing to you and hurl it across the room? I think we've all felt that way at some point, but most of us know better than to actually act out on this impulse, so we stuff it and deal with the situation in a socially acceptable way. With crowbar in hand you can smash a computer. You can even bring your own stuff in to smash, if you like. You can relive the horrible encounter you had at your job with that one customer who was being absolutely unreasonable and you can throw things, break things, stomp on things, and let all your frustrations go.
I find it interesting that 85 percent of the clientele at Break Club are women. That's a whole lot of stressed out women who are sucking it up on a day to day basis. Putting up with annoyances and turning the other cheek, being polite while they are being treated rudely, and now there is a place where they can go and let it all out.
I can totally see how it would work. I mean any sort of physically demanding activity can help you let go of stress, but actually giving yourself the time to acknowledge that you are pissed off and letting yourself spend that energy while physically breaking things probably feels good. Hmmmm, I wonder if they will open one of these clubs near me any time soon?
