A cookies and Cabernet party is a sweet way to get your friends together this holiday season

Wine tasting is a fun way to get a group of friends together (who doesn't like wine?), but if you're not a card-carrying oenophile it can be an intimidating experience — and a bit dry. Pun intended! This holiday season, we suggest you ditch the stuffy tasting room setting and instead invite your girlfriends over for a relaxed Cookies and Cabernet party in the comfort of your home!

Who doesn't like wine and cookies, right especially when it's delivered straight to your car with Walmart's Grocery Pickup? The idea is simple: Provide a selection of different wines and tasty cookies that pair well together, and invite your friends to help themselves!

We tapped our resident hostess with the mostest, Slice host Evette Ríos, for her tips for throwing an elegant yet laid-back Cookies and Cabernet party that will have your friends calling you the sweetest sommelier they know.

Evette suggests starting with a variety of fine but approachable wines, like a Cabernet Franc, a Sangiovese, and a sparkling rosé. She picks up her wine, along with a selection of yummy cookies, at her local Walmart. Evette places an order for Winemakers Selection wines and festive holiday desserts like pumpkin snickerdoodles and snowflake sugar cookies online using Walmart Grocery Pickup, then has the treats brought right to her car in the parking lot.

Once she has her pairing supplies, she simply creates handmade notecards with suggested pairings, and she's ready to go. Evette always invites her guests to bring their own bottles of vino and/or cookies to add to the tasting table — and to the fun!

Check out the episode of Little Slices below for Evette's suggested wine and cookie pairings and advice for setting a festive table. We assure you it's all in good taste.
