With school back in session, it's time to have a little fun with breakfast. My kids love cereal but have fallen head over heels for these No Bake Frosted Flakes Peanut Butter Cereal Bars, so I had to share the recipe with you.
I love spending time with my children, but now that school is back in session, we're spending less time doing cool, fun stuff and more time doing homework and preparing for school the following day. Which I know, it's important, but BLAH!
I want to spend as much time with my children as possible, so I get as creative as possible with our time together. Of course, this means we spend time cooking together almost every night.
My kids are still too young to help too much with dinner, so we try to make breakfast, lunch, and even after school snacks together in the evenings after homework is finished. It's a great reward for the girls–and I admit, I love it too, it's a win-win situation for us all. Plus, we come up with some pretty yummy recipes, like the one for this No Bake Frosted Flakes Peanut Butter Cereal Bars that my kids are head over heels in love with. It not only has their favorite cereal, Frosted Flakes, but peanut butter too. Does it get any better than that?
No bake Frosted Flakes peanut butter cereal bars recipe
Ingredients:
4-5 Cups Frosted Flakes Cereal
1 Cup all-natural gluten-free sugar
1 Cup corn syrup or honey
1 Tablespoon vanilla
1 Cup peanut butter
1 Cup chocolate chips

Preparation:
Place Frosted Flakes cereal into a large bowl and set aside.
In a medium saucepan, combine syrup or honey and sugar and bring to a boil. Allow sugar mixture to boil for about 1 minute, all sugar should be good and dissolved. You'll want to be sure to stir continuously to avoid burning sugar mixture.
Remove combined sugar mixture from heat, add peanut butter and vanilla while it is still hot. Stir in peanut butter until it's melted and you have a thick peanut buttery mixture.
Pour peanut butter mixture over Frosted Flakes cereal and turn/mix until cereal is completely covered.
Spread into a large 9×13 pan–or I used a large Tupperware container–and pack down using a spatula. If you use Tupperware, you'll want to be sure mixture is cooled enough.
Allow to cool for about 2 hours or until firm.
Melt chocolate chips and drizzle over top of cereal bars. Allow to cool for another hour or until chocolate is firm.
Enjoy your super yummy No Bake Frosted Flakes Peanut Butter Cereal Bars!
My kids are getting pretty good at smashing the cereal into the container and Vayda generally helps me drizzle the chocolate. I think it's safe to say we are both getting a little better. You should have seen our last batch.
This excellent recipe is not only great for breakfast, but it makes a great after-school snack or dessert too!
