I'm just going to go ahead and admit this, as a working mother of a very small child, my home is rarely "guest-ready." And by rarely, I mean never. But over the years I've learned that inviting someone into my home isn't about the superficial impression that I make on them, but more about the honest impact fellowship and community have on our lives. So I try really hard not to worry about whether my home is in magazine perfect condition when I invite someone over for a playdate, tea or even dinner. Not that I'm okay with having guests over in filth. I'm not. So, I've learned some great quick tips on getting my home ready for guests. One of the most important being the 5-minute bathroom clean up. Keep reading to find out how to do it.

1. Disposabe cleaning wipes. Three wipes–one for the toilet, one for the sink and one for the floor. Granted, this isn't going to be enough if it's been weeks since you deep cleaned your bathroom, but it's perfect for those in between days. Just use a disposable cleaning wipe to clean up the toilet seat, handle and outside of the bowl, to wipe down the sink area and vanity and to freshen up the corners of the floor and any areas that are commonly victim to the uncontrolled sprays of little boys.
2. Take out the trash. Pretty self explanatory here. Removing any trash and putting a fresh bag in the can will make your bathroom immediately look and smell better.
3. Scented candles. Speaking of smell, I like to light a scented candle in the bathroom about an hour before guests arrive and leave it lit until they leave. A good smell always gives off feelings of cleanliness and comfort. If you have small kids, just make sure to put the candle somewhere they can't reach.
4. Fresh hand towels. Toss the ratty old ones you use on the day-to-day into the hamper and break out the fluffy, pretty ones. Hang them neatly to be used by your guests. Or at the very least, straighten the ones you're already using and make sure they're dry.
5. Refill the hand soap. Make sure you have hand soap. If your dispenser is empty, refill it. If you've run out completely and don't have time to run to the store, use dish soap or shampoo, no one will know the difference and their hands will be just as clean.
