Want to get pregnant? Feed your man some fish! (RECIPES)

We've all heard that fish filled with Omega-3 fatty acids is good for the heart, right? Well, now there's a new study about how this kind of fish can help a much lower body part. Your man's sperm, to be exact.

In a study published in the journal Human Reproduction, researchers found that men who are a diet high in saturated fats (like those found in many fatty foods) had lower semen counts and concentrations, while those that ate foods (like fish and flax) filled with Omega-3's had a larger amount of normal-shaped sperm, scientists said.

So what does this mean? If you're looking to get pregnant (whether again or for the first time),  you need to start feeling your hubby some fish! Luckily, I found two great recipes from my favorite food bloggers (Always Order Dessert and Poor Girl Eats Well, who gave me some family food budgeting tips earlier). Now serve up!

Crispy Pan-Fried Tilapia with Lemony Baby Arugula Salad (recipe courtesy of Alejandra Ramos of AlwaysOrderDessert.com)

Ingredients:
1 8-oz tilapia fillet
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoon olive oil
sea-salt or kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
3oz baby arugula greens
1 clove garlic
Juice of 1 lemon
Extra-virgin olive oil (use something good and fruity for the best flavor)
2 lemon wedges, for garnish (optional)

Directions:
Rinse the tilapia fillet and pat dry with a paper towel, removing as much moisture as possible. Add the butter and olive oil to a medium skillet and place over medium-high heat. While it heats, season the tilapia generously on both sides with the sea-salt and black pepper.

Once the oil is hot, place the tilapia in the pan and let cook for 2-3 minutes or until golden and crisp on the pan side. Make sure that it is golden and crisp before flipping; if it isn't, leave for another minute or so until it is. Flip and cook on other side for another 2-3 minutes. (Again, until it is golden and crisp. It will be fine to eat if you don't wait, but that crust is where all the flavor is. Wait for it. It's worth it!)

While the fish cooks, place the arugula greens in a large bowl. In a smaller bowl or glass, whisk together the lemon juice with the second amount of olive oil  and the crushed garlic clove. Drizzle dressing over the salad and toss well to coat (remove the garlic clove). Season with salt and pepper.

Placed the cooked tilapia on top of the salad and drizzle on the pan juices. Garnish with 2 lemon wedges and serve immediately.

Ahi Tuna & Legumes with Mandarin Honey Glaze (recipe courtesy of Kimberly Morales or PoorGirlEatsWell.com)

Ingredients:
Juice of 4 mandarin oranges
2 T orange blossom honey (regular honey is fine)
1 clove crushed garlic
1/4 t salt
2 medium marinated Ahi tuna steaks (if using plain Ahi tuna, season lightly with lemon pepper, sea salt, and garlic; reserve a couple tablespoons of olive oil for cooking)
2 c Brittany Blend (or any blend of wax and green beans, and baby carrots)
Lemon pepper & salt to taste
Mandarin sections (about 6)
Couple sprigs of cilantro for garnish

Directions:
Prepare the glaze by combining the mandarin juice, honey, garlic, and salt in a bowl and whisking vigorously until completely mixed. In a small saucepan, heat the glaze mixture over medium heat until it comes to a boil, stirring occasionally. Cook for about 3 minutes & remove from heat. Glaze will thicken on its own.

Heat oil in a skillet on medium high heat until oil is moving on its own. Add the tuna steaks and sear for about 2 minutes on each side (depending on thickness). In the meantime, steam the vegetables in a steamer, adding lemon pepper and garlic before steaming so the flavors seep into the vegetables. When veggies and tuna are finished cooking, remove from heat. Allow tuna to cool for about 2 minutes before slicing. Place about 1/2 cup of legumes on a plate, then arrange a few thick slices of tuna on top. Add a few mandarin orange sections and some fresh, rinsed cilantro leaves, and drizzle the dish generously with the mandarin honey glaze. For a little extra heat, sprinkle some crushed red chilies on top. Enjoy!
