Last July, Amanda Coats' story went viral. She had gotten a microblading procedure done at the Point Cook Skincare Laser Clinic in Melbourne, Australia and it was a total disaster. Not only did it leave her with serious and permanent scars, but apparently it also cost her $1,600 in medical visits.
She's paying the consequences of outing the center though.
Because she went public with her story, the clinic along with cosmetic tattooist, Batulzii Cleveland are now suing her for $150,000 in compensation. According to the clinic they have lost at least 11 clients since Coats' story went viral. The incident has also ruined the tattooist’s reputation.
Last year, the show 'The Doctors' mentioned the horrifying incident.
It left everyone in the audience with dropped jaws.
Board-Certified Dermatologist Sonia Batra had some theories about what could had gone wrong.
"In this case I think what happened was she actually had two problems. One it’s that when you create nicks in the skin, it’s a great doorway for bacteria. And if someone didn’t use sterile instruments or there was dirt in the environment, the skin wasn’t cleaned properly, she could have definitely gotten an infection or bacteria in here. And then the second is, I actually think she by very bad luck is also allergic to the dye that was used.”
The center claims the reaction was not caused by a bacterial infection.
They believe Coats' reaction was an allergic one only. "These packs were opened in front of the client using sterilized gloves that remained in the room the entire procedure,” Iain Cleveland, the owner of the clinic told the Daily Mail.
