Feather brows are a thing & the internet is freaking out

I'm all for brow pencils, brow enhancers, and even micro-blading. But the latest brow trend is pretty darn questionable: feather brows. That's right, scroll through your Instagram feed and you'll find a number of beauty bloggers  brushing their brows to resemble feathers and it's all thanks to Finnish makeup artist Stella Sironen. But why is this even a thing?

More from MamásLatinas: The two hands makeup challenge is so hard it looks impossible

The brows are parted horizontally and the hairs above the part are brushed up, while the hairs under the part are brushed down. Sironen even used a glue stick to keep the hairs in place. Yes, a glue stick. But if you're actually going to try this at home maybe opt for a brow gel instead. You know because glue stick is probably not the safest thing to put on your brows.

Sironen's goal was to get the brows to resemble a bird's feather. The question though is why?

"[So] I'm starting this new brow trend please recreate it and wear it everyday, "Sironen captioned one of the brow feathered photos posted on her IG.

So here's the thing. Sironen intended for this to be a joke and she even admitted it a few days later. She was merely having fun creating a new beauty look. She didn't mean for this to become an actual brow trend. But what she didn't realize is that Instagram beauty girls take this stuff very seriously and now it's all over IG.

Sironen wound up posting another photo afterwards with the following caption: "Note to self: When you make a joke about starting a funny brow trend, people will take it seriously and… well… start the trend." She even went on to tag it #featherbrows

I'm all for trying new beauty trends, but I think I'm going to have to take a hard pass on this one. Walking around with feather-looking brows isn't exactly what I'd consider cute.
