There are a lot of things I'm willing to do all for the sake of clear acne-free skin. I'll give up chocolates, sweets and dairy. I'll switch up my skincare routine, I'll work out more, drink plenty of water, and even pay for a fancy spancy facial every two or three months if necessary. But one thing I'm absolutely NOT willing to try is a urine facial. That's right, apparently it's the hottest thing in the U.K. right now and it promises to keep those zits and manchas off your face. Seriously, who would actually try this though?

Now what kind of woman would be willing to slather pee all over her face? Apparently one that's sick of breakouts. But is this even legit? And if it is, how can urine help clear up acne? According to Neal Schultz, MD and BeautyRX founder, it's the urea that has everyone going bonkers.
"Urine is made up of 95 percent water, and the next-highest component concentration is urea," he told Refinery29.com. "Urea can act a little bit like an exfoliant, which is why it may have skin-care benefits." Ugh, how weird is that? But get this: Urea is actually found in tons of skincare products already! It's used to help add water to the skin, keeping it smooth and hydration. But apparently it's not actually worth it to put actual urine on your face. Your pee might contain urea, but not nearly enough to make it effective. In other words: It's NOT worth it!
"The creams have anywhere from 10 to 15 percent concentration of urea," Schultz added. "In urine, it's significantly less than 5 percent." So before you consider collecting your pee in a cup and then slathering it all over your face (that almost made me gag), you might want to consider looking for other alternatives like over-the-counter products or DIY remedies. Try anything but piss PLEASE!
It's not just desperate but it's freaking gross. Not to mention, not effective. It doesn't even contain enough of the super ingredient, urea, to give substantial results. My goodness, what are they going to up with next? Poop face masks and period blood facials? It's only a matter of time before women decide to take things that far–just watch!
