Kale & banana smoothie for perfect, glowing skin

My new favorite obsession these days is smoothies. Unlike most people, I don't drink them to lose weight. At first it was just a fun and easy way to get more greens into my diet. But now I do them for my skin. That's right, for my skin. The same way you need healthy foods and vitamins to stay healthy, you also need veggies and fruits to get beautiful. So in the pursuit of clear, glowing skin I'm trying a green detox smoothie!

Your usual strawberry-banana smoothie might seem delicious but it won't give you a radiant complexion. For a bigger beauty boost, I like to add a few greens into the mix that are rich in vitamins and antioxidants. Kale is my go-to pick. This dark, leafy green has an endless amount of beautifying benefits.

I'm also a big fan of chia seeds. These little black seeds are high in omega-3s and fatty acids that help protect skin from free radicals that contribute to aging and dulling skin. And don't worry about your drink being too bitter, I made sure to add just the right about of sweetness! Here's a green smoothie recipe that will have you looking even more radiant than J.Lo–trust me!

What you need:

2 cups of kale

1 1/2 cups of chopped pineapple

1 sliced up banana

1/2 cup of coconut milk or almond milk (unsweetened)

1 tablespoon of chia seeds

 What to do:

1. I usually start off by chopping up some kale. You can use baby kale leaves to make your life easier.

2. Then transfer the kale, chopped pineapple and sliced banana into a blender.

3. Pour 1/2 cup of unsweetened coconut or almond milk, cover and blend.

4. Transfer to a glass and stir in a tablespoon of chia seeds. Let them sit for about 5 minutes or until they become gel-like.

5. Drink, enjoy and be beautiful!
