Flip manicure: The most confusing nail art trend ever!

Just when I thought nail art designs couldn't get any crazier, a whole newly bizarre trend starts making waves. The latest fad is placing all the focus on the other side of your nails and they're calling it the "flip manicure." Yes, the flip manicure. And trust me, it looks just as bizarre as it sounds. This is the "cool" thing now, I guess. What ever happened to simple, solid-colored manis?

Gone are the days when women would file their nails square and paint them with a few coats of one nail polish. Now it's all about long pointy manis (that look more like animal claws) and contain a ton of three-dimensional designs. I thought 2013 was a crazy nail art year, but this one is even worse because now everything is going on the back of your nail.

So how does it work? Apparently all you do is embellish the other side or your nails, the same way you would the front and that includes anything from polish to studs and jeweled accents. But your nails have to be almond shaped and long enough to design underneath your nail. Who has time for this?

Adele was one of the first celebs spotted sporting this look, followed by stars like Ciara and Beyonce. I'm pretty sure Rihanna has rocked it once or twice too. I'm always keeping up with beauty trends but I don't think this one is for me. Maybe it's because I'm super lazy about my nails to begin with or maybe I just don't see the point of staying an additional 15 to 20 minutes at my local nail salon just so they could design the other side of my nails too. Imagine how hard that must be to dry? Sorry chica, but you won't see me running out to get a mani like this!
